Obituary for Edna Underwood

Edna  Underwood
Edna Lucille Harris-Underwood on Nyack was called home to Jesus on August 5, 2013. She was the youngest of five children born to Rames and Alice Boseman Harris on March 10, 1917 in Anderson, South Carolina. Edna worked as an independent travel agent for 28 years until her retirement. She was also the founding member of the World Adventurers Travel Club. She planned many trips both domestic and abroad for many local churches and social clubs. Mrs. Underwood was a member of Pilgrim Baptist Church, Nyack since 1972 and was active on the church’s Missionary Ministry, Ushers Ministry and Faithful Laborers.
She is predeceased by her husband Cornelius Alfred Underwood and three siblings. Her memory will be forever cherished by her only son, James Edward Harris of Nyack; one sister, Martha H. Clay of Cincinnati, OH one grandson James Murray; 3 Godchildren, Michael Gallien, Barbara Lynn Vazquez (Marcus), and Fabian Irons, and her Pilgrim church family and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
A Homegoing Service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday at Pilgrim Baptist Church, 80 No. Franklin St. in Nyack. Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until 11 AM at the church. Interment will follow at the Rockland County VA Cemetery in New Hempstead, NY.
