Obituary for Thomas W. Nassisi

Thomas Nassisi, who turned 101 this past June, entered into eternal peace on July 26, 2014. Tom was born in New York City on June 12, 1913 and graduated from James Monroe High School in 1930. He supported his family for many years by working at the American Bank Note Company in the Bronx. Tom will be remembered for his many years as lector at St. Ann’s parish in Nyack and also as past president of the Congers II Senior Club. At St. Ann’s many people believed that he was actually Bob Sheppard, the voice of the New York Yankees. He is survived by Nina, his beloved wife of 77 years. Also survived by his children Theresa Helbeck (Gerard), Josephine Masulli, Thomas Nassisi (Maria), and Richard Nassisi (Pam). His daughter Anne Marie Garlick predeceased him in 2008. Also his 13 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. Tom will always be remembered for his extraordinary generosity to family, friends and strangers alike. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Ann’s Church, 16 Jefferson St., Nyack NY 10960. Mass of Christian burial at St. Ann’s Church on Wednesday at 10:00 am. Wake on Monday 6-9 pm and Tuesday, 2-4 and 6-9 pm. at Hannemann Funeral Home in Nyack.
