Obituary for Ann Raso

Ann Raso
Annie Raso of Palm Beach Gardens Florida, passed away at the Jupiter Medical Center on June 9, 2016 after a long illness. She was 60.
Annie was born on March 24, 1956, in Nyack, New York, to the late Joseph F. Raso and Cay Sterns Raso. She graduated from Rosary Academy in Sparkill in 1974. She received her Baccalaureate Degree from Mt. Saint Vincent College, attended Columbia University and received her Masters Degree in Hospital Administration from Hunter College. She was hired by the Albert Einstein Hospital as the youngest head of a department in charge of their Continuing Education program.
During her childhood, Annie was the quintessential tomboy. When choosing sides for a baseball game, she was always the first to be picked. She excelled in sports and became a champion swimmer at the Nyack YMCA and in later years became a golf pro which was her passion. She relocated to Florida and purchased a Nature's Way Cafe with her partner Catherine.
Annie is survived by her spouse Catherine Gillot of the home address in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida and her siblings Charles "Corky" Raab and his wife Mary of Pawleys Island, South Carolina, April Voorhis and her husband Ken of West Nyack, Kim Raso Stewart and her husband Jim of Upper Grandview, and Frank J. Raso of Upper Grandview. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom she adored.
Annie would give you the shirt off her back with a heart as big as the Grand Canyon. She struggled with many health difficulties, always with courage and faith.
Visiting will be on Wednesday, June 15, from 4-8pm at the Hannemann Funeral Home, Inc. in Nyack. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10am at St. Ann’s RC Church, Jefferson Street, Nyack, New York. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a cause very dear to Annie – the Cay Sterns Raso Scholarship at St. Thomas Aquinas College, 125 Route 340, Sparkill, New York 10976.
