Our Dear, Sweet Mother, Martha McEnroe passed away on May 2, 2017 at the age of 95. Martha was born to Catherine and Calvin York on July 6, 1921 in Bronx, NY. She married her husband James (Lefty) McEnroe on July 19, 1940. They were married for over 75 years when Lefty passed away on May 23, 2016. (Six days shy of his 99th birthday) Martha worked as a New York City crossing guard for many years in the Bronx. Martha leaves behind her children, Margaret Reilly of Haverstraw, NY, James McEnroe of Nanuet, NY, Barbara and her husband Tom Murdy of Nyack, NY and her son-in-law Samuel Monroe of Valley Cottage, NY. Martha was predeceased by her devoted daughter, Patricia Monroe and son-in-law James Reilly. Martha was a dear sister to her three brothers who predeceased her, David York, Frederick York and Arthur York. Martha was blessed with 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. We will forever cherish the love and memories she left with us.
Visiting will be held on Friday from 4PM to 8PM at the Hannemann Funeral Home, Inc. in Nyack. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday at 10 AM at St. Ann’s RC Church in Nyack. Interment will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Haverstraw, NY.
