Obituary for Sister Marjorie Mullen

Sister Marjorie  Mullen
SISTER MARJORIE MULLEN, OP, formerly Sr John Terence, a member of the Sisters of St. Dominic of Blauvelt, New York for the past 57 years died on May 26,2017 in St. Martin de Porres Community at the Motherhouse. Sr. Margie was 77 years of age.
Sr. Margie was born to John and Kathleen Clifford Mullen on May 30, 1939 in the Bronx. She entered the Sisters of St. Dominic on September 8, 1960 from St. Nicholas of Tolentine Parish, Bronx, NY. She received the Dominican Habit on June 15, 1961, professed first vows on June 17, 1962 and final vows on June 30, 1968.
Sister received a BS in Education from Dominican College, Orangeburg, NY.
Sister’s many years of ministry were devoted to the education of youth and the administration of St. Dominic’s Home. Sister taught in the following schools: Holy Spirit, Bronx, NY, 1964-1969; St. Benedict, Bronx, NY, 1969-1970; New City Elementary School, New City, NY, 1999-2002; Felix Festa Middle School, New City, NY 2002-2015.
Sister became Personnel Director at St Dominic’s Home, Blauvelt, NY 1970-1974, and Assistant Administrator 1974-1986. From 1986-1999, Sister was Assistant Business Manager at Albertus Magnus High School in Bardonia, NY. Because of ill health, Sister retired to St. Martin de Porres Community December 2016.
In addition to her religious congregation, Sr. Margie is survived by her sister Kathleen Gallagher, brother John Mullen, brother-in-law, Jerry Mc Auliffe, and many nieces and nephews. Sister was predeceased by her sister Della Mc Auliffe and brother Danny Mullen.

MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Wednesday, May 31, 2017 11 am
BURIAL: St. Dominic Cemetery
Arrangements have been made by Hannemann Funeral Home, Nyack, NY
