Sidney Paul
Sidney Paul passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at the age of 85. Sidney had survived his wife, Cyrille, who he had been married to for 56 years. Sidney and Cyrille were best friends and partners in everything they did.
He is survived by his loving children Andrew and Mila Paul, Amy and Frank Romano, David and Sherri Paul, his grandchildren Danielle Ackerson (Robert), Jason Romano (Corina), Rachel and JD Paul, Zachary and Michael Paul, family and countless friends. Sidney was a proud graduate of Stuyvesant High School, City College of New York, and Columbia University. He held an MSSW and began his private practice specializing in marriage counseling. He was the Director of the Mental Health Association of Rockland County for more than 25 years. During Sid’s tenure he captained the development of many programs such as Project Rainbow (for children of alcoholics), day care programs and group homes for people with varying degrees of mental illness. He was also an active member of the NYS Mental Health association for many years. Sidney was always involved in the community and an active member of many local organizations. Along with other positions he held over the years were President of the Congregation Sons of Israel in Upper Nyack, President of the Nyack Center Board of directors, and President of the Salisbury Point Co-op Association board.
In addition to his family and friends, Sid loved the outdoors, gardening, photography, music of all kinds, and reading. He especially loved to laugh and joke. He had a wonderful warm sense of humor right to the very end of his life.

A funeral service will be held at Congregation Son's of Israel on Broadway, Upper Nyack, NY at 10 AM on Sunday, September 3, 2017, followed by the burial at the Congregation Son's of Israel Cemetery in Blauvelt, NY. The family will be accepting visitors at 250 Maple Rd., Valley Cottage, NY 10989 on Sunday from 7 pm – 9 pm with a brief Shiva service. All family and friends are welcome.
