Obituary for Melody A. Ortiz

Melody A. Ortiz
Melody Ann Ortiz born March 11,1971 to Barbara and Bob Ortiz. She was an only child who was cherished, and doted upon, by her parents.
She attended Our Lady Queen of Angels Grade School in Manhattan until 1983 and graduated from Immaculata High School in 1987. She attended City College for a year but opted instead to seek employment.

She worked at the Valley Cottage A & P for 17 years where she became well known for her warm smile and sunny disposition. She made many friends, and was well regarded by all.
She eventually went to work at the Target Store in West Nyack where once again her sincerity and charm won over many , strangers became friends, and customers became admirers. She was a regular at the local Bingo hall and throughly enjoyed the game and an easy camaraderie with the other players. She was an avid animal lover and never missed an opportunity to urge friends and family alike to donate to the Hi-Tor animal shelter.
In 2012 she suffered a debilitating medical crisis which prevented her from further employment. As a result of that illness, she was enrolled in the TRC program at Helen Hayes Hospital.
The program and the staff there became a staple of her life, and pivotal to her continued well being.

She was her Mothers best friend, and the light of her Father's life. Her passing leaves a void for them that can never be filled.
She will be missed every moment, of every day by her parents, family and friends.
