Obituary for Pastor Margaret Lawson

Pastor Margaret Lawson
Pastor Margaret D Lawson, 88 of Valley Cottage, was called home to her heavenly father on Nov. 24th at Hospice of Rockland with family at her side.
She was born on May 11, 1929 to Isaac Tucker and Maggie Holt Tucker in Halifax VA.
Margaret attended the South Boston VA school district.
She had 4 children. Lourine Harris, Jerry White, Elizabeth Dickerson and Dorothy Lawson.

Margaret moved to Rockland County in 1960. She worked as a cook and housekeeper. She was a caregiver to the sick and shut in. She also worked for St Dominic’s and Lakeside group home. She enjoyed working with the children and showering them with love. When she wasn’t working she would be in church or out doing her missionary work. After her retirement she went on to work part-time at Traverson Wooded Indian as a cook.
She loved the Lord and his works. She was a Missionary who would go out and visit with the sick and those couldn’t get out. She loved sharing the word of God with others. She very rarely let you end a conversation without her praying for you. On Aug 14 2000 she was ordained as a minister by the Pentecostal Holiness Church. She would travel around and preach the word of God. She attended the Gates of Heaven church for many years. She later went on to open her own church, Living Witness Holiness.
She is also known for her cooking. She enjoyed cooking for her family and others. She enjoyed reading her bible and giving bible studies. She really enjoyed talking with others and letting them know that Jesus loves them and so does she. If she ever seen someone in need she would now hesitate to help. It didn’t matter. Whether it was a ride, food, money, just someone needing to hear the words I love you and prayer. She loved her family. There wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do for them. If someone was sick you knew she was praying for you. If she was up at 2am and it was on her heart to call and check on she did just that. She seemed to always know when something wasn’t right whether we were near or far. She’d be on the phone or at your door and in her prays for sure.

Margaret is survived by her daughters Lourine Harris and Dorothy Lawson (Ronald). Her grandchildren William Harris (Shonda) Nicole Stroud (Christopher) Lisa Harris, Chrise Dickerson and Jerri Monique White, 11 great-grandchildren, 2 sister Grace Tucker and Gladys Tucker, cousin Peter Holt and host of nieces and nephews and her closet friend Maggie Conway.
She is preceded in death by her parents Isaac and Maggie Tucker, 14 siblings, her son Jerry White, her daughter Elizabeth Dickerson and her grandson Tyrone Harris.

Visitation will be Thursday November 30th at 12noon at the St Stephens Episcopal Church located at 84 Ehrhardt Rd Pearl River, NY.
Funeral services will be at 1pm following the visitation. The Rev Newton will be the officiating the service.
Interment will follow at the Brick Church cemetery in Hempstead NY.
