George was born on June 1, 1935, in Nyack Hospital, to George D., Sr. and Mildred (Colligan) Fee. He grew up on College Avenue in Nanuet along with his siblings Mary Ellen, Fred and Ray, and graduated from the New York Military Academy in 1953. George joined the Army in 1956, and received an appointment to the Army language school (now called the Defense Language Institute/Foreign Language Center) in Monterey, California. He was later stationed in Helsinki, Finland for over two years. George was fluent in Russian and Finnish and had a great ear and love for languages that he enjoyed his entire life. George is survived by his beloved wife Ruth (nee Kosel), children Christopher of Ossining, and daughter Laurie of New York City. He is predeceased by his eldest son, George D., Fee III. He is survived by his four cherished grandchildren, Courtney, Brenden, Alex and Bitsy, and daughters-in-law Donna and Robyn, along with loving nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. George and Ruth lived the majority of their 55 years together in Nyack where he was an active, enthusiastic member of the community, whether though Rotary, Nyack Red and Black club or the American Legion.
George was a great lover of food, history, music and sports. In the early years of their retirement, he especially enjoyed extensive travel to Western Europe and Scandinavia with Ruth.
