Sr. Dorothy Golden, O.P., formerly Alyce Marie Golden, a member of the Sisters of St. Dominic of Blauvelt, New York for the past 62 years, died on July 24, 2018 in St. Martin De Porres Community at the Motherhouse in Blauvelt. Sister Dorothy was 83 years of age.
Sister Dorothy was born to Francis Golden and Josephine Hanna Golden on June 17, 1935 in New York City. She entered the Sisters of St. Dominic on September 10, 1956 from Holy Rosary Parish, Bronx, NY. Sr. Dorothy received the Dominican habit on June 18, 1957, professed her first vows on June 19, 1958, and her final vows on August 28, 1964.
Sister held a BS in Education from Dominican College in Blauvelt, N.Y.
Sister Dorothy’s many years in ministry were devoted to child care and the education of youth. Sister ministered at St. Dominic’s Home, Blauvelt, (1959-1972) in the children’s cottages. She taught at Holy Cross School, N.Y.C. (1972-1984). She ministered at the Good Council Cardinal Cooke Home, Spring Valley, N.Y. (1988-1989), and served as a Supervisor at the Assumption Academy Marian Child Care Center in Emerson, N.J., (1989-2007). Sister served in the Charisma Gift Shop at the Motherhouse (2008-2012). Sister retired in 2012 and returned to the Motherhouse in 2016, serving in prayer ministry as a resident of the St. Martin De Porres Community.
In addition to her religious congregation, Sr. Dorothy is survived by her sister Marge O’Neill, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, and brothers Frank and Gerard.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sisters of St. Dominic of Blauvelt, New York.
