June Baffa Tonelli passed away peacefully on Monday, July 30, 2018, at her home in Nyack, NY. She was born in Jersey City, NJ, on June 4th, 1931, the third of four daughters of Alfred and Estelle (Solga) Baffa. A graduate of St. Aloysius Academy, she worked at Lederle Laboratories, where she met her husband, George Tonelli. They married in 1955 and settled in Emerson, NJ, where they raised their four children and developed loving lifelong friendships. In 1981, they moved to New City, NY.

June was remembered by all who met her and beloved by those who knew her. Most important to her were her children, her large extended family, and her friends. She had a special bond with her 10 grandchildren -- 5 boys and 5 girls, of course, given June’s sense of fairness. She loved Lunigiana (Italy), her adopted homeland. She loved entertaining people and making them feel welcome in her home. June was an avid gardener and expert shopper. To the end she kept her playful sense of humor and her ability to make loved ones feel special. Everyone thought they were her favorite. She gave love freely, always lending a caring ear and warm heart -- a legacy we will cherish forever.

June is predeceased by her parents, her loving husband and love of her life George, and her sisters Mady, Carole and Alyce. She is survived by her children, Alfred (Maureen), Corinne Kennelly, George (Debbie), and Janine (Steve) MacGregor; her grandchildren Dan (Corinn), Julia (Mike), Allie (Scott), Emma (Matt), Joseph, Rebecca, Brian, Alex, Jessica, and Evan; and her great-grandchildren, Avery, Leila June and George. Her dear in-laws were Frank Donofrio, John Ventura, Al and Ginny Tonelli and Robert Tonelli; she is survived by Lina Tonelli, as well as her greatest supporters in the waning years, John and Franca Tonelli, and her lifelong friend Mary Marotta.

Visiting will be held on Wednesday, August 1, 2018, at Hannemann Funeral Home, 88 S. Broadway, Nyack, from 3 - 8 pm. Funeral mass will be on Thursday, August 2nd at 10 am at St. Augustine’s RC Church, Main Street, New City. Burial will follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Nanuet, NY. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org) or the Williams Syndrome Association (williams-syndrome.org).
