Sister Agnes (Jane) O’Connor, RCD died August 13, 2018
after a long illness. Sr. Agnes was born February 17, 1925
in the Bronx to Daniel and Loretta Power O’Connor. In
addition to her parents she was predeceased by her
siblings Daniel, James, and Loretta O’Connor. Sister
Agnes entered the Sisters of Our Lady of Christian
Doctrine August 15, 1942 and professed Perpetual Vows
May 4, 1948.
She earned her BA at Manhattan College, Ma in Sacred
Studies at St. Bonaventure University and another MA in
Religious Education at Boston College. Her ministerial
work included being Catechist and Religious Educator in
a number of New York Parishes in the Bronx, Manhattan,
Westchester, and Rockland Counties plus several in the
Orlando Diocese, Florida.
She served her religious congregation as President
2002-2010, Director of Temporary Professed, and as
Superior in several convents.
The wake will be held at Marydell Convent, 110 Larchdale
Avenue, Nyack, Wednesday, August 15th, 3:00-6:00 PM,
Thursday, 9:00-10:00 AM followed by Mass of Christian
Burial at 10:00 AM.
Sr. Agnes is survived by her sister Marjorie Clifford,
several nieces, and her Sisters of Our Lady of Christian
Doctrine.
