Obituary for Steven R. Dizzine

Steven Robert Dizzine, 61, passed away peacefully after a heroic, lengthy battle with 9/11 related cancer on October 6, 2018.
He is survived by his wife Kate (McFarland) Dizzine, his son Matthew, and daughters Samantha and Tess. Also survived by his brother Michael (wife Susan), and sisters Susan (husband Ed), Margaret (husband Michael), Mary (husband Brad) and Caroline, as well as many nieces, nephews and their extended families.
Steve worked for over 30 years as an Executive in the Food Service business, for Sodexo (previously Marriott Corporate Services and Corporate Food Service) in New York City.
He was a dedicated volunteer firefighter in the Nyack Fire Department for over 40 years, as a member of Orangetown Fire Company #1 proudly serving the Nyack community.
He will be remembered for so many things, but mostly for his never-ending love of family and friends, his trophy-winning marches as a member of the Orangetown Color Guard, and his love of Nyack, the NY Rangers and all things New York. He loved a good snow storm, a great glass of Cabernet and the occasional shot of Black Sambuca. His life was cut too short, but his legacy will be immeasurable.
A wake will be held at Hannemann Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 10th from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9, with firematic services at 7:30 pm. A funeral mass will be held at St. Ann’s Church in Nyack at 11 am on Thursday, October 11th.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Steve’s memory to United Hospice of Rockland or Orangetown Fire Company #1.
