Obituary for Irwin N. Ungerleider

Irwin N. Ungerleider of Valley Cottage passed away on May 5, 2013, he was 84. Irwin was born on Dec. 26, 1928 in New York NY to Saul and Anna Ungerleider and attended NYC Schools graduating from Dewitt Clinton HS. He served in the United States Army from 1950-1952 and was honorably discharged.
Irwin married Gloria Israeloff on Dec. 16, 1951 in New York NY. He attended NY University at night while working earning both a Bachelor's and Master's in Business. Irwin started his sales career at the Masback Hardware Corp. after returning from the service, moving to Cook & Dunn Paints in the early 1960s. In the late 1960's Irwin took over his own advertising company Graphic Arts in New City NY, creating numerous campaigns for local business. From there he moved on to Rank Precision Industries beginning his work in the television and film production support industries. He moved to Sony Corporation of America in the broadcast division and was responsible for the design and execution of the company's displays and almost every national trade show until his retirement. After retiring from Sony he started his own consulting firm The Ungerleider Group, and continued to work within the trade show industry for several more years. Irwin also volunteered with RSVP teaching basic business practices to school students, and as a docent at the Bear Mountain Trailside Museum and Zoo.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years Gloria, his daughter Phyllis of North Hollywood Calif.
Sons Stephen (Mary) of Valley Cottage NY, Jack (Megan) of St. Paul Minn. and Granddaughters Sarah of
Woodridge NY, and Emma and Moira of Valley Cottage NY.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10 AM at the Hannemann Funeral Home, Inc. in Nyack.
Burial will follow at Temple Israel Memorial Gardens, Blauvelt NY. Shiva will be observed at home Wednesday thru Friday from 4 to 7 PM.
