Obituary for Andrew J. Lowe

Andrew J. Lowe
Andrew J. Lowe "Andy" passed away peacefully on Frday, June 2nd, 2017 after a long illness. He was born on February 13, 1957 in Bronx, NY and grew up in Valley Cottage, NY. Andy was a graduate of Albertus Magnus High School Class of 1975 went on to study at Southhampton College, LIU and earned a Bachelor's Degree from Mercy College in Information Assurance and Security. Andy's love of photography took him on a career path early in his life that included being a photojournalist for the Journal News and Associated Press. He continued on as a wedding photographer for Studio Eleven. His experience spanned both film and digital photography. After his studies in Information Technology his career took a different path as he became part of the Mercy College library staff. Andy was always interested in how things worked and was quick to think outside the box when looking for a solution. His frustration with how to inexpensivly replace a gear that would constantly wear out in the library printers led him to 3D printing technology. This turned out to be a natural extension of his photographic experience in capturing images and printing them. Andy quickly became an advocate for this new technology and the uses and benefits that the school and students could realized from it. Andy was a dedicated son, brother and uncle. He was often attendance at his nephews' school and sporting events, camera in hand and capturing the memories. His youngest nephew attends the Hudson Valley P-TECH program and Andy became a "business partner" with P-TECH when he brought his knowledge and enthusiasm on 3D printing to the students. Andy is predeceased by his father Andrew. He is survived by his mother Mary; his sister Jeanmarie Galietta and her husband John; his brother John as well as his three nephews, Joseph and James Patalano and John Andrew Lowe. The family will have visitation on Sunday, June 4th, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Hannemann Funneral Home, 88 South Broadway, Nyack , NY. Funeral service will be at 12:00 p.m. on Monday June 5th, 2017 at St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church, 82 Lake Road West, Congers, NY with interment immeadiately following at Gethsemane Cemetary, Rockland Lake State Park Ring Road, Congers, NY. Andy requested that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Rockland BOCES Family Resource Center (Hudson Valley PTECH), 65 Parrott Road, Building 7, West Nyack, NY 10994.
