Obituary for Edward Donald Cocker Jr.

Edward Donald Cocker, age 85, of Tappan, NY, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2019. Don (as those who loved him called him) was born in Teaneck, NJ where he lived and worked on a farm with his family. Don graduated from Fairleigh Dickenson University and after college was drafted into the US Army where he proudly served in Germany with the 3rd Armored Division. When Don returned to the US he settled in Piermont, NY where he raised his family. Don was a proud community member and served with the Clarkstown Police Department for 28 years until retirement in 1989. Don also served as a Village of Piermont Trustee and was a member and Chief of the Piermont Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife, Veronica “Ronnie”, of 52 years; son Peter and daughter-in-law Elena and grandson Jonathan of Suffern, NY; son Edward and wife Jennifer, grandchildren Gareth and Bryce of Baltimore, MD; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Visiting will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2019 from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM at the Hannemann Funeral Home, Inc. in Nyack. Piermont Fire Dept. will hold a Firematic Service on Sunday evening at 7 PM at the funeral home.
