Obituary for Betsy Ruth Thorsen

Betsy Ruth  Thorsen
Betty (Betsy) Ruth Thorsen of Nyack passed away peacefully on April 13, 2019. She was 67 years old. Born in Asheville, North Carolina on October 25, 1951, to Harry and Betty Shuford. She was educated at Clarkstown High School in New City, New York, and graduated in 1969. She attended Oswego State college, graduating with a bachelors in biology in 1973. She thereafter obtained an Associates Degree in Laboratory Technology.
Betsy worked as a lab technician for many years, at both Good Samaritan Hospital and ABC Labs. Later she would have a part time job as a legal secretary, while also having a full time job caring for her three children and driving them to all of their sports practices and competitions.
She will be missed dearly by all who knew her. She was predeceased by her mother, father and sister Catherine. Betsy is survived by her sister, Sally Krystofik of Frisco, Texas; her daughters and sons-in-law Kathryn (Marlen Rattiner) and Krista (Karl Campbell), and son Carl (Valentina Thorsen), her seven grandchildren Noah, Lily, Molly, Jake, Liam, Finn and Eric and loving niece and nephews Joseph, Kenny and Meredith. Betsy was a wonderful mother, sister, and friend, who will be missed by all that were blessed to know her.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2019, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., with the funeral service to follow at 5:30 p.m. at Hannemann Funeral Home in Nyack, New York.
