Sister Janet  Hartwick,  O.P.
SISTER JANET HARTWICK, O.P., a member of the Sisters of St. Dominic of Blauvelt, New York, for the past 48 years died on May 13, 2019 in St. Martin De Porres Community at the Motherhouse in Blauvelt. Sr. Janet was 91 years of age.
Sr. Janet was born to James and Ellen Holland Hartwick in Nyack, New York. She entered the Sisters of St. Dominic on February 11, 1971 from St. Peter’s in Haverstraw, N.Y. She received the Dominican Habit on August 30, 1971, professed her first vows on September 11, 1972, and final vows on September 11, 1975.
Sister received an AA in Business from Dominican College. Prior to her entrance into religious life she worked as an administrative assistant to the Senior Vice President at McGraw Hill, Inc. (1952-1971.) Her years of active ministry included service in the Congregational Treasurer’s Office (1971-1979), and Dominican College Business Office as Director of Personnel, Student Loan Officer and Student Collections Officer (1979-2009.) Upon retiring from active ministry, Sr. Janet devoted herself to community service and prayer ministry until her death.
In addition to her religious congregation, Sr. Janet is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, James and Ellen, and her brothers, Robert and James.

EVENING PRAYER: 6:30 p.m.
MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Friday, May 17, 2019 at 10:30 a.m.
BURIAL: St. Dominic’s Convent Cemetery
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Sisters of St. Dominic, Blauvelt, N.Y.
Arrangements have been made by Hannemann Funeral Home, Nyack, New York.
