Obituary for Richard T. Kane

Richard T. Kane, 79, of New City, passed away on November 8, 2019. He leaves behind a devoted wife Nancy, 3 loving children Suzanne (husband Gary), Brian (wife Vicki), and Kerrianne (husband Shawn), and 8 beautiful grandchildren Nicole, Danielle, Louis, Mackenzie, Mallorie, Courtney, Ian and Kaleigh. Richard was one of five children. He is survived by his brother George Kane (wife Carole) of Georgetown, TX, sisters in law Debbie LaGrecca (husband John) of Salisbury Mills, NY and Marcella Kerlin of Nacomis, FL, and brother in law Dennis Gooler of Stony Point, NY, along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Bill Kane (wife Muriel), sisters Mary Gooler and Catherine Lundgren (husband Eric), and sister in law Susan Harris of Dayton, OH.

At age 16, Richard started working for the Rockland Journal News as a typesetter. After graduating with a Journalism degree from Bergen Community College, he worked up to the position of supervisor of the Composing Department from which he retired after 25 years.

He will be forever remembered by friends and family for his wit and sense of humor.

Visiting hours are Wednesday 4-8pm at Hannemann Funeral Home, 88 South Broadway, Nyack. A funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday, November 14 at 10am at St. Ann’s Church, Nyack, with internment to follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Nyack. As an expression of sympathy the family requests donations to be made in memory of Richard to The National Kidney Foundation, www.kidney.org.
