Henry E. Sauter

Henry E. Sauter, 91, was born in Upper Nyack, NY September 21, 1928. He passed away November 23, 2019.

A lifelong resident of Rockland County, He was born in Upper Nyack, graduated from Nyack High School, Class of 1945, and from Pace University in 1949 with a degree in Accounting.

Henry served as US Army Staff Sergeant during the Korean War from 1951-1953 and was stationed in Atlanta, Georgia.

He and his wife Shirley returned to be near family and settled in West Nyack to start a family of their own.

Henry worked briefly for several large accounting firms before choosing a career with A. Sauter Co. Wholesale Florists in Manhattan, NY, where he worked until he sold the business and retired in 1993.

He was a devoted husband and family man who took great pride and pleasure maintaining his home, garden, and yard—and always found time for anyone that needed a helping hand.

Henry was predeceased by his wife Shirley. He is survived by his brother Arthur Sauter of Ludlow, VT, his son James and his wife Rosalie of Sparkill, NY and his grandsons Everett and Craig, son David and his wife Kirsten of Vineyard Haven, MA and his grandchildren Julia and Evan, and daughter Lori Biberon and her husband Bruno of Wilton, CT and his grandson Ryan.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am December 7th at Hannemann Funeral Home in Nyack, NY.

In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations can be made in Henry’s Memory to local charities Meals on Wheels or People to People.
