Obituary for Julia S. Martin

Julia S.  Martin
SPRING VALLEY - Julia S. Martin (nee Fenton) of Spring Valley, NY entered into Eternal Life peacefully on January 13 at home surrounded by her family at the age of 85. Julia was born to Eugene and Catherine (MacDonald) Fenton on October 7, 1934 in Nyack, NY. She graduated from Nyack HS in 1952 and received her nursing degree from Holy Name Hospital. She was employed at Nyack Hospital in the pediatric unit as an RN. After many years of service, she retired as a nurse from the Robert L. Yeager Health Complex Nursing Home.

Julie’s free time was spent as a volunteer at St. Boniface Church where she was a Eucharistic Minister and loved her time as a member of the church choir. She was also a volunteer nurse and provided support for Hospice. Among her greatest accomplishments and source of pride was her family, who will miss her dearly and her sense of humor. Like the song says…. “We are Family”

Survivors include her beloved children: Billy (Susan), Cathy (Eddie) Skiba, Julie (Holly) Holland, Patti (Tom) Crowley, Greg, Michael (Kristina) and 11 grandchildren (Billy, Diana, Corey, Thomas, Angel, Victoria, Charlie, Thomas, Caitlin, Kevin, and Haley) and 1 great grandchild (Arianna). “Sister Jules” is also survived by her loving brothers and sisters - Jeanmarie Grahn, Fred Fenton, David Fenton, Catherine Stokes, Charlie Fenton, Rosemary Stokes, Maryellen Fenton and Gerald Fenton as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Julie was blessed to be married to her husband Bill for over 61 years, who passed away last year. She is also predeceased by her older sister Pat (Sr. Miriam Eugene).

Visitation will be Thursday January 16th from 4-8 at Hannemann Funeral Home, 88 S. Broadway Nyack NY. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday January 17th at 11:30am at St. Ann’s Church, 16 Jefferson St., Nyack, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Judes Children’s Hospital in her name.

The Martin family would also like extend their appreciation and thanks to all those who took such loving care of their Mom from A&T Healthcare and United Hospice of Rockland County.
