Jessie Mae  Blanks-Wooten
Jessie Mae Blanks-Wooten was born on June 9, 1942 to the late Lillie Ann Roberts and Johnny Blanks in Cromwell, Alabama. She departed this earthly life on Sunday, March 22, 2020.
At an early age, Jessie accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and joined Shiloh C.M.E. Church in Cromwell, Alabama. She was an active member at Shiloh, attending Sunday School regularly, and singing in the Church Choir.
Jessie graduated from Choctaw County High School, in Butler, Alabama. In the late 60s, she moved to Spring Valley, New York, where she met and married the love of her life, Cleophus Wooten.
Jessie served underprivileged youth as a child care worker at Saint Agatha's Home for Children in Nanuet, New York. She retired after over 25 years of devoted service. Her smile and charm brightened rooms as well as people's lives.
Jessie was preceded in death by her parents, Lillie Ann Roberts and Johnny Blanks; her son, Larry Wooten; her sister, Yolanda Roberts; and her brothers, Johnny Lee Blanks and Nathaniel Roberts.
Jessie leaves to cherish her memories- her doting husband, Cleophus Wooten; Children: Anthony Wooten (Rosalyn) and Felicia Wooten-Green (Joe); Sisters: Mary Thomas, Mammie Johnson, Ruby Blanks, and Virginia Roberts; Brothers: Allen Blanks (Marie), Richard Blanks (Mary), and Jeffrey Roberts (Diahanne); Sisters in law: Gertrude Wooten, Ella Coleman, and Della Wooten. She also leaves a host of loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
