Obituary for Joseph Arlotta

Joseph Arlotta
Joseph N. Arlotta (Joey) entered eternal rest on Sunday, April 12, 2020. Joseph was born on January 8, 1959 to Pasquale and Gloria Arlotta (Grieco). He was born in New York City and raised in South Nyack, NY. He attended Saint Ann’s Elementary School and graduated in 1973. Joey graduated from Nyack High School in 1977. He received an Associates Degree from St. Thomas Aquinas College in Sparkill, NY.

Joseph was employed as an assistant residence director at Camp Venture/Tanglewood House. He loved his Tanglewood family and their families, and enjoyed spending time with all of the residents, even outside of work.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2320 in Piermont, NY. He served as an usher at Saint Paul Saint Ann’s in Nyack, NY, where he was a lifelong parishioner.

Joey was an avid New York Yankees and Mets fan, but if given only one choice, it would be the Mets. He also closely followed the New York Rangers. He enjoyed attending concerts with his siblings and wife, and was a practical joker. His sense of humor could light up any room and brighten anyone’s day. A picky eater, Joey enjoyed Sunday gravy, and avoided garlic at all costs. He was an excellent cook and everyone enjoyed his cavatelli.

Joseph is survived by his loving mother, Gloria Arlotta, the love of his life, Lydia Velez Arlotta, a son Joseph, and his sisters Gloria Arlotta (Nyack), Marie Caruso (Tom) (New City), and Camille Brickman (Nyack). He is also survived by nieces and nephews, David Arlotta (Julie) (California), Nicole DeSimone (Richie) (Thornwood), Jessica Jackman (Colorado), Anthony Caruso (Sarah) (Nyack), Analisa Caruso (Rhode Island), and Brianna Brickman (Long Island), as well as great nephews and niece, Richie and Vanessa DeSimone, and Mason Arlotta. He was preceded in death by his father, Pasquale, brothers Pascal and Nicholas, and daughter Faithe.

Joseph’s burial will be private. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 18, 2020 at 11:30 AM at St. Ann's RC Church in Nyack. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations or meals in Joseph’s name to:
