Obituary for Alicia Lyons DeMogollon

Alicia Lyons DeMogollon
Alicia Lyons DeMogollon, age 87, passed away peacefully May 21st, 2020 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born March 4th, 1933 in Sahagun, Cordoba, to Alfonso and Alicia.

Alicia loved to love on people. She collected porcelain plates from locations around the world. Her hands were rarely still. She would always find a nickname for everyone and everything. She also shared her love with food such as Chicken Parmigiana, Irish Soda Bread, Sweet Plantains, white rice, real fried chicken, real New York Cheesecake and Ghirardelli's dark chocolate.

For many years she contributed to St. Jude Children's Hospital, Helen Hayes Rehabilitation Hospital, Habitat for Humanity; in later years she became an advocate and donor to the American Cancer Society.

“Do what’s right and do what’s good. Be kind and help others. The world can always use one more kind person. And if you can take it one step further, please do it for those who are less fortunate than you” her ethos, moral compass and guiding principles.

Her life was a living example of her favorite Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 — “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.”

Alicia is survived by her sons Carlos, Jaime and Gerardo; granddaughter Stephanie and grandsons Mikey and Jonathan; great grandchildren Liam and Juliet; her nephews and nieces Diana/Paul, Jenny/Andrew, Martin/Terry, Anthony/Colleen, Eddie/Nancy.
All of these she loved and touched deeply.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
