Jeffery Ruben Dumas
Jeffrey Ruben Dumas, affectionately called Jeff, went home to his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at the age of 59. He was born on February 24, 1961 in Nyack, NY to Ronard and Carolyn (nee Gordon) Dumas. Jeff attended Nyack Public Schools, was a member of the Nyack High School marching band, and graduated from Nyack High School in 1979. He furthered his education at The School of Music in Syracuse, NY.
Jeff enjoyed cooking, auto mechanics, and was especially passionate about music. He was a gifted drummer who played for several churches throughout Rockland County, as well as being the drummer with many bands in Rockland County and New York City.
Jeff was employed for Coca Cola for many years and had a talent for doing a variety of odd jobs. He loved to engage in lively conversations and was quick to offer a humorous remark about almost everything. His fun-loving personality, practical jokes, and big heart endeared him to his loved ones.
Jeff was preceded in death by his parents and many uncles. He leaves to cherish his memory his brother and sister-in-law, Ronard “Ronnie” and Patricia Dumas of Spring Valley, NY; his sister, Sarina Dumas of Laurel, MD; a niece, Shikiera Dumas; and a nephew, Najhmier Lee. He will also be fondly remembered by several aunts, many cousins, and numerous friends.
Graveside services will be held at the Brick Church Cemetery, 221 Brick Church Road, Spring Valley, NY on Friday, June 12, 2020 at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to the Martin Luther King Multipurpose Center in Spring Valley, NY.
Funeral arrangements were handled by the Hannemann Funeral Home in Nyack, NY.
