Dana A.  Smith
Dana Andrew Smith, 58, of Nyack, NY, transitioned from this life into eternal life on October 7, 2020.


Dana was born on January 4, 1962 in Nyack, NY, to Courtney and Mary Smith.


Dana attended Nyack Public Schools, graduating in the Class of 1980. He was an avid athlete and sports fan throughout his life. He participated in both football and in track and field events in high school and was a lifelong fan of the Cleveland Browns. He was well known in the community for his good nature, kind spirit and charitable ways. Always available for a family member or friend in need, whether that be a listening ear or a comforting shoulder to lean on. He was most recently known for the Celebration of Life weekend events he sponsored yearly for the past decade, supporting the Nyack Memorial Barbeque, an annual event that began as a way of honoring his late brother Kevin. Dana was beloved by his family and numerous friends who he considered family. Known for his stylish ways, he had a flair that was unique to him. Relocating to Georgia, in August 2017, Dana built his dream home and began a career with the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA).


After high school Dana served in the United States Coast Guard, being honorably discharged in 1985. He was then employed by Mellon Bank in New Jerseys before accepting a position at Wyeth/Pfizer Pharmaceuticals in Pearl River, where he worked for several years and formed close friendships with his colleagues.


Dana leaves to cherish his memory, his mother; Mary, and five siblings; Lonnie (Vanessa) of Chester, Virginia, Gregory of Somerset, NJ, Mark (Gwendolyn), David (Stephanie), and Diahann Smith-Roberts (Jeffery) of Spring Valley; devoted friend Susan Dixon and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Aunts, Uncles, cousins and friends. He is predeceased by his father; Courtney Smith and his brother; Kevin Smith, Sr.
