Obituary for Dolores Marie "Del" Timpson

Dolores Marie "Del" Timpson
Dolores “Del” Masucci Timpson, age 91, Sparkill, NY, went home to our Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 17, 2020. She was born to Alfred and Elizabeth on September 23, 1929 and married her beloved husband, William F. Timpson, Jr., on Mary 9, 1953 who preceded her in death in 1984. Raised in Piermont, New York, she lived the majority of her adult life between Jensen Beach, Florida and Sparkill, New York.

Del was a very attentive and loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt and friend. She loved her family and friends beyond measure and influenced their lives and the lives of others with her kindness, thoughtfulness and at times blunt honesty.

Her heartfelt embrace was felt through the countless baby blankets, sweaters, hats, scarfs and prayer shawls she knitted for so many of us. She kept us warm both body and soul. Del also loved to bake. Everyone always looked forward to receiving a tin filled with her home baked Christmas fruit cakes and cookies, most especially her Ginger Snaps. Throughout the year her renowned brownies would also be welcomed by one and all. Totally delicious, totally appreciated, totally Del.

She took pleasure in volunteering, as a Class Mother for each of her daughters’ classes, as an Elections Poll Worker and as a Prep Cook in a soup kitchen. Del was also active in her churches and residential communities, St Martin de Porres Catholic Church and Beacon 21 Condominiums in Jensen Beach, Florida and St John the Baptist Catholic Church and Thorpe Village in Piermont and Sparkill, New York.

Throughout her life she was an avid reader of biographies and romance novels. It wasn’t uncommon for her to read a book cover to cover in just one day. She also enjoyed traveling, going on countless family vacations, cruises and trips with family and friends. The destination didn’t matter to Del, for her it was all about the journey and sharing it with those she loved.

If you were ever under the weather, in the hospital, had an anniversary, made your communion or confirmation, got married, had a new baby, whatever the occasion or circumstance you most likely received a card with Del’s “Love & Prayers”. She remembered all.

Dolores is survived by her devoted and loving family, Daughters Coleen (John) Duffy and Dawn (Robert) Kirks, Grandchildren Erin (Mark) Idsall, Sean Duffy and Brianne (Andrew) McGinnis, Great Grand Children Mackenzie McGinnis, Peyton Idsall, James Duffy, Kamerin Duffy and Chloe Idsall. She is also survived by her treasured Nieces and Nephews, Patricia Ables, Donald (Bernadette) Hardy, Dennis Hardy and Donna Mary Hardy together with several Great Nieces and Nephews. In addition to her husband William, she was also preceded in death by her sister Mary B. Hardy.

All who knew and loved Dolores will miss her greatly. Please join the family for a Memorial Mass to honor Del at 11:30am on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Piermont, NY. Interment will be at Rockland Cemetery, Sparkill, NY.

Donations in Dolores’ memory can be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 895 Piermont Avenue, Piermont, NY or Hospice of Orange-Sullivan County, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550.
Arrangements are in the care of Keith Taylor, Hannemann Funeral Home, Nyack, NY.
