Obituary for Carolyn Campe

Carolyn Campe
February 1, 1941 – December 8, 2020

Carolyn Amy Campe of Boca Raton, Florida passed away December 8, 2020 at the age of 79. She is survived by her children Lisa Campe (David Yount) and Stephen Campe (Karen), her partner Fred Siesel, her sister Myrna Elliot, and her beloved grandchildren Tess, Jason, Jack and Brian.

Born in Miami in 1941 to Samuel and Rose Buchwald, Carolyn was raised with her sister Myrna in Hewlett, New York. After her father’s untimely death, she was adopted by Rose’s second husband Sam Mann. Known as “Lynny” at that time, Carolyn graduated with academic honors from Hewlett High School in 1958, and was remembered as “pep and personality personified.” She attended University of Michigan where she met her former husband Geoffry, and then transferred to University of Pennsylvania and earned her bachelor’s degree in 1962. Several years later, she was inspired to pursue her dream of becoming an attorney, attending Rutgers Law School and then practicing law for many years.

Carolyn and Geoffry raised their children in New City, New York. She relocated to Boca Raton, Florida in the 1990s with her new love and partner Fred (Manny) and developed a rich community of friendships. Her friends always noted her keen intellect, curiosity and aptitude for spirited conversation. Over the course of her life, she actively volunteered for numerous societal, political and community causes, always striving for a better world for others. She was a lifelong tennis player, enjoyed traveling, vacationing on Cape Cod, Thanksgiving with her family, music, chocolate, reading, painting and debating current affairs. Above all, she was forever devoted to her children and grandchildren, cherishing their every accomplishment and providing them with unconditional support. She will forever hold a special place in all of our hearts.

Carolyn was laid to rest alongside her parents in a private ceremony on Sunday, December 13 at Cedar Park Cemetery in Paramus, New Jersey.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to The Compact of Cape Cod Conservation Trusts at http://www.thecompact.net/.
