Obituary for Barbara P. Friedrich

Barbara P. Friedrich
1948 – 2021
Upper Nyack – Barbara P. Friedrich passed away
on March 12, 2021 after a brief illness. Barbara
was born on May 19, 1948 to Richard and Emily
Kohler (Penta) in Pearl River, NY and spent her
formative years in Lawrenceville, NJ. Barbara
graduated from Trenton High School and Wagner
College where she had been a member of the ZTA
sorority. Barbara married William Friedrich on
September 26, 1987. After a 33 year career,
Barbara retired from the Haverstraw-Stony Point
Central School District in 2003. She worked in
both the Elementary and Middle School as well as
serving the North Rockland Teachers’ Association
for many years as a Building Representative, and
the NRTA Executive Board as Corresponding
Secretary. Her social studies teaching
background served Barbara well in retirement.
Barbara was involved in the Rockland County
Living History Reenactment Program, and she and
Bill traveled to Hudson Valley Farm Markets
demonstrating Apple Cider production with their
own cider press. International and domestic
travel was a passion for Barbara. Her Zeta
alumnae group made yearly trips far and wide.
Barbara’s holiday cookie presentations were
anticipated by all family and friends with delight!
Barbara is survived by her husband, Bill of Upper
Nyack, her mother Emily of Lawrenceville, NJ,
her brothers Rick Kohler (Margaret) of Califon,
NJ, Ron Kohler (Carline) of Greensboro, NC, Bill’s
daughter, Terri Pearlstein (Blair) of
Lawrenceville, Georgia and his son Stephen of
Norcross, Georgia, grandchildren Sydney,
Alexandra and Lyndsey Pearlstein of
Lawrenceville, Georgia, two nieces and two
nephews. Barbara was predeceased by her
father, Richard.
Barbara chose cremation. A memorial service
will be held at a future date. Donations may be
made in Barbara’s honor to an organization that
you hold in high regard.
