Scott W. Nangle (April 27, 1951 – March 20, 2021)

Scott W. Nangle, 69, of West Nyack, NY, died Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Weill-Cornell Hospital in New York City from lung cancer complicated by pulmonary fibrosis. Scott was born on April 27, 1951 in Danvers, MA, to the late Leonard J. and Gloria B. (Richer) Nangle. He graduated from Masconomet Regional High School in Boxford, MA and then earned his BFA in acting from Boston University, and a Certificate in Systems Design from Columbia University. Under the stage name Scott Walters he worked as a professional actor, performing Off-Broadway and with regional theaters and touring companies including the NJ Shakespeare Festival, The Acting Company and the Long Wharf Theater. He opened his own photography studio in NYC, creating headshots and publicity photos for the performing arts community. After moving to West Nyack in 1991 to fulfill a lifelong dream of restoring a Victorian home, he became an active member of the Elmwood Playhouse, performing, photographing shows, and serving on the board of directors while working as a computer specialist until his retirement.

Scott is survived by his wife Mary Rose (Mimi) Leahey, their sons William Harry Nangle of Los Angeles, CA and Joseph Patrick Nangle of San Francisco, CA and eight siblings, including three brothers, Keith L. Nangle and his wife Brigitte of Raleigh, NC, Gary P. Nangle and his wife Gayle of Peabody, MA and Timothy E. Nangle and his wife Elizabeth of Windham, ME; five sisters, Linda Waraska and her husband John of Newbury, MA, Leslie Warburton and her husband David of La Canada Flintridge, CA, Jill Chamberlain and her husband Mark of Amesbury, MA, Lori Wiswell and her husband Steve of Newburyport, MA, and Tracey Richer of Danvers, MA. Scott was predeceased by his sister Denise Nangle of Worcester, MA. He is remembered for his culinary skills, quick wit, and loyalty by the entire Leahey clan, numerous friends, thirteen nieces, six nephews and the expanding next generation.

A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Scott at St. Ann’s Church in Nyack, NY on September 11, 2021 at 11 AM with reception to follow, in guidance with COVID protocols.
