Obituary for Judith "Judy" Kruitof (Cuttner)

Judith (Judy) Kruitof, née Cuttner died peacefully on Friday May 7, with a smile that epitomized her rosy disposition. She is survived by her sister Caryl, stepson Doug and many loving nieces and nephews. Judy grew-up between New York CIty and Miami Beach. In 1947, Judy studied for a year at the Actors’ Studio where she formed a brief friendship with Harry Belefonte. She studied for three-years at the University of Miami, but sacrificed her senior year to help her sister, Janet Cuttner, attend medical school when money was tight. Then, Judy worked as a draftsperson in New York and when her father died, in 1963, she helped her mother, Ida Cuttner, run the family fur dying business. In 1970 Judy married Jabob Kriuthof who soon after built their home in Upper Saddle River. There, she worked as a travel agent, played tennis and bridge, and visited her mother each day until her death in 1989. In 1992 Judy and Jake moved to Boynton Beach, Florida and were active members of the Palm Isles community. There Judy helped to organize duplicate bridge and eventually became a Gold Master. Judy’s precious smile will be missed by friends and family whom she valued over all else.
