Obituary for Kevin O'Donoghue

Kevin  O'Donoghue
Kevin Paul O’Donoghue, of Gallatin Tennessee, passed away on March 31, 2022, at the age of 72. Kevin was born on May 29, 1949 to Paul A. Sr. and Nancy O’Donoghue at Good Samaritan Hospital. He graduated from Nyack High School and attended Manhattan College.
After working many years as an accomplished carpenter, Kevin took over as proprietor of O’Donoghue’s Tavern. He helped build the business, that had already been successfully run by his father, into an esteemed Nyack institution. O’Donoghue’s was known for good food and drink, as well as a welcoming environment where people of the town would frequently congregate to share the news of the day or a laugh among friends. Kevin was known for his philanthropy and tireless work in the community. He donated his time and energy to organizations such as Head Start, delivering Thanksgiving meals with the Rotary Club of Nyack, gathering toys for children during the holidays and the endless number of fundraisers for charitable causes.
Kevin was a proud father of Patrick Stephen O’Donoghue. Their love for each other was immediate, strong and fulfilling.

Kevin was a notable, second generation, member of Mazeppa Firehouse. He was the first Parking Commissioner of Nyack. He brought about effective changes in the parking regulations, some of which still serve the community today. Our fond memories of Kevin include: seeing him riding his BMW, sailing the Hudson, his musical theater work, filling the rafters with his voice at Holiday Mass, his culinary creativity, his poignant black and white photography, regaling us of his many adventures, his infectious laugh, gleaming eyes and full faced smile. His zest for life, love, friends and family was evident to all who knew him.
Kevin retired to Gallatin Tennessee with his wife Christine. He was predeceased by his parents, Paul A. Sr. and Nancy, brother Paul A. Jr., sister Cathleen. He is survived by his loving wife Christine, his devoted son Patrick, his sisters Ann, Noreen (Sal/Tucky) and Mary (Michael), as well as many nieces and nephews, Michael, Justin, Jennifer, Molly, Amelia, Garrett, Evan, Lara, Rose, Liam, Kimmie and Kellie.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Ann's RC Church, Nyack, NY on Saturday May 21, 2022 at 11 AM.

A Parting Glass

Of all good times that e’er we shared,
I leave to you fond memory;
And for all the friendship that e’er we had
I ask you to remember me;
And when you sit and stories tell,
I’ll be with you and help recall;
So fill to me the parting glass,
God bless, and joy be with you all.
