Obituary for James A. Lowery

James A. Lowery
James A. Lowery passed away in his home in New City on May 13th, 2022 at the age of 96 under the loving care of his family and friends. The V.A. Hudson Valley Health Care System supported James and his family with love, kindness, and respect at the end of his life. He was predeceased by his wife, Lorraine Lowery of New City, N.Y. and his sister, Virginia Florance of Bloomingdale, N.J. James was cherished by his son, Jim and his wife Sue of Stony Point and their three children, Jennie and her husband Randy, Bobby and Jimmy, as well as his daughter Kathleen and her husband Dale of Virgil, N.Y. and their two children Sara and Matt. His family was the heart of Jim’s life. He adored his five grandchildren and guided them with unconditional love throughout their lives. His hobbies included fishing, carpentry, reading and he loved listening to sports on the radio. As a young man, Jim served in the army during World War II and was stationed in the Philippines and Japan. Jim went to Rutgers University where he finished his Bachelors of Chemistry degree in three years. After graduating, he worked at Lederle Laboratories as a research chemist where he met the love of his life at work in 1951, and married Lorraine in 1952. Jim and Lorraine spent as much time as possible at their summer home (Sun-Up) in the Catskills and shared this piece of heaven with family and friends. As a husband, father, and grandfather, we will all miss you, but the memories you gave us will ensure we laugh, cry and are comforted by your passing. We are thankful for everything you gave us in life and you will remain in our hearts forever.

There will only be a graveside service on Thursday, May 19th at 12:00 noon at Oak Hill Cemetery, Nyack, N.Y.
