Joseph P. King
With great sadness, we are sharing the loss of our beloved Joe King who passed away on Thursday, May 19th in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Joe was born in New York City on December 20, 1939 to Thomas and Ann (Manning) King. He attended Our Lady of Good Counsel and Cardinal Hayes.
In 1957, Joe joined the US Army where he became a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne serving in Fort Bragg and in Alaska. Following his 3 year service, Joe joined the Tile Helpers Union Local #88 and the Tile, Marble, and Terrazzo Union, Local #7 of NY and NJ. Joe was a master craftsman with amazing insight, talent and coordinating skills. Joe was passionate about his work and always emphasized doing the job right the first time.
Joe is survived by his loving wife, Maureen (Barrett), daughter Kristen Corey (Robert), sons Joseph (Gaudy) and Michael. He was a loving Pop Pop and adored by his grandchildren, Ayden King, Mia King, Vivienne Corey and Logan King. He is also survived by his siblings, Josephine McElwain, John King, Margaret King, Michael O’Neill and Elaine Koncz. Joe was an avid reader and believed strongly in freedom of speech and expression. He loved the arts in many forms including tile patterns, oil paintings, prints, music and plays. In truth, Joe was always the life of the party, or better yet, the party in life. Heaven was waiting for him.
