Obituary for Philip J. Bosco

Philip J.  Bosco
Philip J Bosco of West Nyack, story began on November 8, 1933 at Nyack Hospital and it continued until the evening of November 16, 2022.

He was born to his late parents, Philip Bosco and Mary Bosco(Rock), at Nyack Hospital and lived in Piermont until 10 years old.The family later moved to Nyack. He is survived by his sisters Helen Lee Colman(John), Louise Midlin(Richard) and Marianne Quinn(late Timothy), along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. In August of 1955 married the love of his life and is survived by Constance J(Gutowski) Bosco and added 3 daughters, Stefanie Chiappetta(Sam), Paula Bosco(Robert Goldsmith) and Valerie Bosco-Ryan. He also is survived by his loving grandchildren Annmarie Chiappetta-Levitt(Austin), Andrew Chiappetta and Victoria Bosco-Ryan.

Phil graduated from Nyack High School in 1951. In 1952 entered the Navy to proudly serve his country during the Korean War. The ships he served on were the USS Wisconsin,USS Baltimore and the Picket Ship USS Strickland. While serving on the USS Baltimore the ship traveled to the United Kingdom to represent the United States for the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.

After Being Honorably discharged from the Navy he went to Boston University to earn a degree in Accounting

Philip was a longtime Parishioner of Saint Anthony’s Parish. He worked on bingo, the Parish Picnics and whatever project he could lead his talents. He built many longtime friendships in the Parish.

Philip’s life was one of service to his community, as the County Budget Officer and Auditor, Orangetown Finance Director and County Legislator representing the Town of Clarkstown. As county legislator he enjoyed championing the causes of the people.One of his proudest accomplishments is Rockland County Display Law. He was a long time member of the Rockland County Republican Committee and a State Committeeman. Philip was a businessman in the community owning Route 59 Beverage and New City Beverage. 

Phil also worked to solve the flooding issues in West Nyack and Route 59 since 1983.

Philip was a 3rd degree member of the McCloskey Council of the Knights of Columbus; he served in many roles,including Grand Knight. He was a member of the New City American Legion and Rockland County Girls Scouts Board.Rockland County Girls Scouts Awarded him the “Thanks Award” for his service to the Council.

Phil was also an avid METS fan.

Wake will be at Hannemann Funeral Home, Sunday, November 27,2022 from 3pm to 7pm in Nyack. Family is requesting you wear your favorite colors, as we begin to celebrate Philip’s life. 

Funeral is at Saint Anthony’s Parish Church, Monday, November 28, 2022 at 11:30 am in Nanuet. Family is requesting the wearing of Red, White and Blue to Honor Philip’s Service to our Country & County.
