Obituary for George J. Petry
George J Petry passed away on January 3, 2023 he was 85 years old.
He was born July 7, 1937 in Nyack, NY to Walter Sr. and Helen Petry, he had a sister Helen Delollio and brother Walter Petry II, who predeceased him. He graduated from Nyack High School in 1955 and went on to work at Orange and Rockland Utilities. He
Retired after 37 years. He was married to Balbina Gonzalez in 1960 and had three children. He was an outdoors man who like fishing, crabbing and duck hunting in his younger days. He liked traveling in his retirement and going on vacation with his family and grandchildren. He would often go to Ocean City MD and Spring Lake, NJ with his grandchildren.
He was in the Naval Reserves and traveled to Cuba and San Diego CA. He was a member Of Nyack Fire Patrol and marched in many parades. He was an avid Giant Football fan and Attended many games with his friend Jay Malone who he grew up with.
George is survived by his three children, Michael Petry of Port Jervis, Christopher Petry of Stony Point, NY and daughter Marie Murray of Thiells NY. Also his son in law Michael Murray And three grandchildren, Nicole Murray of NJ, Heather Murray of Goshen and Michael Murray Of Thiells, NY
Visiting services will be on Monday January 9, 2023 at Hannemanns 4-7pm. Nyack Fire Patrol will hold a firematic service on Monday evening at 6:30 PM at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 10 AM at St Ann's Church in Nyack.
