Obituary for Maria A. Andrew

Maria A. Andrew
Maria Annette Andrew and her twin sister Marie Annie were born on November 17, 1967 in their native homeland of Trinidad. She left this life on January 2, 2023; she was 55 years old.
Annette, as most would come to know her, came to America with her family at a young age making Haverstraw their home. Annette’s educational path began in Haverstraw Elementary School and culminated with an Associate’s Degree from Rockland Community College. Her love of people, patience and kindness lead her to pursue a career as a Certified Nursing Aid.
Annette dedicated her career to the patients of Helen Hayes Hospital. She joined the hospital’s dietary department in 1990 before transitioning to the role of Rehabilitation Nursing Aid in 1992. She loved her role as a RHNA and spent her entire time lovingly serving the patients of the 4th floor. Her kindness, smile, sense of humor and soft voice not only touched all her patients but made a significant impact on her fellow coworkers. Her love of life, enjoyment of travel, puzzles, shopping and helping and loving others will never be forgotten.
In 1987 Annette met and fell in love with Robert Sellers. They would go on to share many breakfast dates over tea and donuts, (she took hers with cream and sugar), shopping Saturday mornings, braving the cold on black Fridays, countless summer vacations including 22 years of Caribana. Sitting on a swing and people watching were two of their favorite things to do.
Annette is pre-deceased by both her parents DaCosta and Veronica Andrew. She is survived by her twin sister Marie Annie along with five other siblings including sisters: Cheryl, Karen and Beverly - brothers Victor and Albert, countless numbers of nieces and nephews along with the Sellers and Edwards family.
Annette will undoubtedly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
