Obituary for Felix Ramos Sr.

Felix Ramos Sr.
Felix Ramos was born on May 2, 1934, in the town of Dorado, Puerto Rico to Manuel and Emilia Ramos. He was the second to youngest in a family of nine (9) children, which include three (3) brothers and five (5) sisters. His household migrated to the United States and settled in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, in 1946; Felix was twelve (12) years old. As a youngster, Felix was very industrious and undertook odd jobs as a delivery boy for a local Pharmacy, and shined shoes to supplement much needed income for his mother, father and two of his siblings.
Felix graduated from Automotive High School in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, and immediately took a job as an auto mechanic, and independently and financially supported his parents and two of his siblings. Always considered serious minded and ambitious, Felix moved on to a stint with Fedders Air Conditioning Company (until Fedders moved to Long Island) and then accepted an offer as the floor manager at King Charles Supermarket in Williamsburg. While at King Charles, Felix sold watches supplied by a vendor with the challenge to earn a commission. He became so proficient at selling watches that he decided to open a retail jewelry store. Felix did not have enough money to supply the store so he signed a lease and launched his business with a loan of $250.00 from his mother in-law. In 1966, Joyeria Ramos (Ramos Jewelers) was established and remained a viable and reputable retail business for over thirty (30) years. Each member of the household, including his beloved wife- Luz Ramos, worked in the jewelry store in some capacity and various lengths of time.
Felix met the love of his life in 1954, married in 1958 and remained faithfully united to one another until Luz predeceased him on September 12, 2002. Felix is survived by two siblings, Carmen Ramos and Ramon Ramos, his five (5) children, Rafael (Deseria), Daniel, Felix, Jr. (Marisa), Adrian (Stacey), and Evelyn (Roy), eleven (11) grandchildren, ten (10) great-grandchildren, and a large extended family.
Felix was a fervent and faithful servant of the Lord, having engaged in various ministries throughout his Christian walk, including ministry of evangelism and discipleship training, marriage counseling, planting churches, overseas missionary work, individual and group bible studies, and pastoral training in the U.S. mainland, Puerto Rico and South and Central America.
Throughout his extended illness Felix was unwavering in his beliefs, faith, and steadfast desire to read and meditate upon the word of God. His wish at this time of his life, was to lift up, praise and exalt his Lord and Savior- Jesus Christ. On January 9, 2023 Felix was called home, to eternity, having faithfully served God on earth.

Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life. John 5:24 NIV
