Obituary for Ytes Legerme

Ytes Legerme
Ytes Legerme, 82, passed away on Friday, May 5, 2023. Born in Petite Riviere De Nippes in
Haiti to Cilamise Abellard and Casimir Legerme. Ytes Legerme was a man of integrity. He was
kind, caring and loving. When it came to living life, he believed in one simple motto, “we’ll take it
as it comes.”
As the eldest son, he cared very much for his family and in 1982, he followed behind his mother
and other siblings and moved to the U.S. Next to family, Ytes was committed to working hard
and making an honest living to support those he loved. He worked at the Hilton Hotel in
Woodcliff Lakes, N.J. for more than 25 years as a part of the kitchen staff. He was loved by all
who truly knew him and never had a hateful word to say about anyone.
Family time was spent with laughter and good times. Always thinking about the next generation,
Ytes would do small things to help instill integrity and humility in his nieces and nephews. Ytes
was known for handing out pennies and if they were appreciated, he would replace them with
dollar bills as a lesson in gratitude. He loved going to family events and was truly the life of the
party. Even as an older man, Ytes could out party and out dance even the youngest of the
family!
Ytes had a passion to help others. His selfless nature and unconditional love for family will be
his legacy. He is preceded in death by his stepdaughter Nadege, mother, Cilamise Abellard,
father, Casimir Legerme, and sister, Ermita Legerme. He is survived by his wife Marie Michelle,
his sons Ydem (Lostine) and Patrick, daughter Nancy and grandchildren Schneider, Keyjmie,
Junior, Christopher, Rebecca, Gabriela, Jeremiah, Elijah, Jayson and Fritz, as well as four
brothers and sisters and more than two dozen nieces and nephews.
