How Youngblood Became "Uncle Jimmy"
At a family barbecue he and my two Uncles came over to me. I was a youngin and always excited and proud to see the strong men in my family. As they tickled me, wrestled with me and drilled me about my being a good girl, I replied, "Yes, Uncle Donnelle I made all A's" and soon cried out, "Uncle Ritchie you are so crazy!" as he was making funny faces at me. Then I replied, "Yes, Jimmy I have been a good girl," Well, Jimmy got real serious as if I had slapped his mother, and told me to never call him that again! Confused, I asked if he prefer me to call him Youngblood like everyone else - an oh did that make it worse! His exact words as if I heard him say them yesterday, "You call Donnie and Ritchie Uncle, YOU CALL ME UNCLE JIMMY." Although I was little and a bit confused, because Donnie and Ritchie were my mother's brothers and he wasn't; it didn't matter. I recognized it was very serious for him and therefore very serious for me. So, now you know why his sister had to become my "Aunt Mildred." As for Lewis, he didn't get the title, I refuse to call someone younger than me "Uncle," but I honor him will that title from my children. So Jimmie Youngblood, I bid you a loving farewell and pray for your eternal peace. I love Uncle Jimmy.
