Nyack, NY - - Robert Alan Alig, of Nyack, NY, died Saturday, March 5, 2016, at Nyack Hospital in Nyack, NY.
He was born January 16, 1932, in Canton, IL, son of Benno Michael and Mary Lucinda (Humes) Alig. He married Marilyn Kaye Smith on July 21, 1951, in Petersburg, IL, and they later divorced. He then married Jeanne Trbovich in Alexandria, VA , and she survives in Virginia Beach, VA.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Alig is survived by four children, Jeff Alig and wife, Teresa of Centralia, IL; Michael Alig and wife, Alice of Piermont, NY; Todd Alig of Norfolk, VA; and Sue Sloat and husband, Mike of Centralia, IL; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Tadeo, Timothy Alig, Molly Alig, Rosie Alig, Lily Alig, Sean Maxey, Benjamin Sloat, and Cindi Sloat; one great-grandchild, Tomas Tadeo; three brothers, Donald Alig, of East Peoria, IL; Patrick Alig and wife, Connie of Norfolk, VA, and James Alig of Canton, IL; two sisters, Cora Antonacci and husband, Tony of Alma, IL, and Donna Herberger, and husband, Niles of Wellsville, NY; sisters-in-laws, Jenny Alig, of Peoria, AZ, and Susie Alig, of Clarksville, AR; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Alig was also preceded in death by the mother of his children, Marilyn Kaye Alig; Special Friend, Kathleen E. Abbot; brothers, Benno Lynn Alig and Michael Humes Alig, and sister-in-law, Elaine Alig.
Mr. Alig was a veteran of the United States Navy and worked as analyst for the United States Golf Association in Far Hill, NJ.
Following cremation, Interment will be at a later date..
