Obituary for Donald A. Cordon

Donald Abraham Cordon Sr., son of the Alfred and Freida Cordon was born on March 7th, 1945 in Nyack, New York. Where he grew up and attended the schools within the Nyack Public School district.

He was united in holy matrimony to Cloraine Cordon (nee St. Hilaire) on March 11th, 1972 at First Baptist Church in Spring Valley, NY. This union was blessed with two children. After the passing of his sister in law, he raised his niece and nephew as well.

Mr. Cordon was a retired veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam War. He received an honorable discharge in 1970 from active service, and another from the reserves in 1976. He was employed with Letchworth Village, in Theills, NY until his retirement and at Fountain View in Monsey, NY. His love of fishing was well known by all who knew him. Whenever possible, he would spend his time fishing at Seven Lakes or watching his favorite fishing shows. He was a man that was full of laughter, and loved to put a smile on the faces of all who met him. Donald loved spending time with his children and made sure he communicated with them just to say hello as often as he could. He departed this life on Friday, August 25th, 2017 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, NY.

He was preceded in death by his son, Donald A. Cordon Jr, his brothers Thurlus Cordon, Hugh L. Cordon and his sister Berdal Cordon. His beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of his wife: Cloraine Cordon. As well as his children: Andre M. Cordon, Thurlus Aaron Cordon (Milissa), Nahomie Gray (Jonathan) and Wilbert St.Hilaire. His sister, Juan (Cordon) Hill. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Donny, as he his affectionately known by his family will be greatly missed. His departure will leave an enormous void in the lives who were privileged to be blessed with his love and friendship.
Visiting will be held on Saturday from 8:30 AM until 10 AM at the Hannemann Funeral Home, Inc. in Nyack. A Homegoing Service will be held at 10 AM at the funeral home with burial to follow at the Rockland County VA Cemetery in New Hempstead, NY.
