Fellow Inspectors

I first met Joe in 1977 when he was an Inspector in Internal Security ( IN ) assignged to the New Jersey Field Office and I was an an Inspector at the Washington office of IN. It was dufring the course of a joint investigation by the two offices which led to the arrest and conviction of a DEA Agent and a former DEA Agent turned private investigator.

In 1978 Joe and I were assigned an integrity investigation that required travel to Pensylvania and New York.

The FBI had forwarded an alegation from one of their informants that a senior DEA Agent had supplied him ( the informant ) with heroin. When the investigation  had run its course we reported that the alegation was unfounded. Management agreed.

In 1978 Joe and I hooked up again for a two week journey to the Middle East and Europe on routine office inspections and an integrity matter . While in  New Delhi we did not go to Agra to see the Taj Mahal.  Joe uncovered a serious violation in the office inspection and because of a confrontation with Country Attache over that matter we were probably not not invited to see theTaj ( probably the first and only DEA officials ever to forgo that visit )

On that same trip we got up into the tribal areas of Pakistan ( Darra ) and saw open air smugglers  bazar where firearms were made/sold and drugs plentiful.

Several years ago I spoke with Joe about times past. At the time he was doing security for the Hebrew Home. He seemed happy and content and was about to visxit his daughters down south.

I was truly sorry to hear of his passing. RIP old friend
