Obituary for Kevin J. Spear

Kevin J. Spear
Kevin Spear, formally of Blauvelt, NY, died on August 22, 2018 at the age of 66 years old. Kevin was born in Queens, NY, to William and Elizabeth Spear on April 18, 1952. He was the younger brother to Paul and Billy. Kevin was employed by Verizon for 36 years as a computer programer.

Kevin is survived by his wife Rosa and 3 daughters Michele Padilla of Florida, Laura and her husband Jeff, and Colleen and her husband Will, and his 7 grandchildren Ashley, Amanda, Brandon, Mason, Frankie Maeve, Sharley, Alexander, and Liam. He is also survived by his older brother, Billy.

He will be dearly remembered as a doting father and husband with an unquestionable devotion to family. His easy going nature made him a well suited addition to his wife’s family amid cultural differences. He was never one to turn away a plate of rice and beans. His passions in life included cars, driving, and music. Music was a constant presence in his daily routine, from having the radio on every morning as he got ready for work to happily blasting Michael Bolton as he drove around with the windows down en route to the diner. The same love of music has been passed down to his daughters. Kevin was also known to have an impeccable sense of direction. He could often be relied upon to guide anyone out of anywhere long before GPS. His caring nature was evident in his willingness to drive everyone anywhere. Above all, his humor was his most admirable quality. He loved making others laugh whether just to tease or to lighten the mood. He was always ready to bring on a smile.

Visiting will be held Sunday, August 26th from 2-6PM. Mass at St. Catherine’s in Blauvelt, NY will be held on Monday, August 27th at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to American Transplant Foundation In Memory of Kevin Spear. (https://www.americantransplantfoundation.org/honor-a-loved-one/)
