Obituary for Virginia Anne "Ginny" Furey
Virginia Anne “Ginny” Furey passed away on February 11, 2021 in Washougal, Washington. She was 87. A nearly lifelong resident of Rockland County, Ginny was born and raised in Nyack, and lived most of her adult life in New City and Rock Hill, NY, in Sullivan County with her husband Jim and her sons Keith and Tom. After graduating Nyack High School, Ginny worked as a switchboard operator for the New York Telephone Company and married her high school sweetheart. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Ginny touched all she met with her humor, compassion, and generosity. Ginny was predeceased by her parents Helen and Thomas D’Auria, her husband Jim, son Keith, sisters Mary and Helen, and her brother Tom. She is survived by her son Tom and daughter-in-law Karen, daughter-in-law Deanna, and her grandchildren Dominique, Nicholas, Frankie, James, Megan, Michael, Marianne and Liam. A mass will be held at St. Ann’s Church in Nyack on Friday, May 21, 2021 at 11:00 AM, followed by a graveside service at Oak Hill Cemetery provided by Hannemann’s Funeral Home.
