Obituary for Margaret A. McCormack

Margaret A.  McCormack
Margaret (Peg) McCormack of Valley Cottage, NY passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2022, surrounded by her family.
She was born in the Bronx, NY on November 7, 1931, to Thomas and Margaret (O’Connell) McCormack. Peg was a Catholic Nun with The Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary for 20 years. Peg was also a teacher, dean of students, and owned her own travel company before retiring from a supervisory position at Princeton University. She then moved to Valley Cottage, NY to spend the rest of her days enjoying the company of her sister, Katherine and adoring her beloved nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.
She received her B.A. degree in 1954 from Marymount College, Los Angeles, and her M.A. in 1962 from Loyola University, Los Angeles. She majored in English and did additional graduate study in philosophy at Loyola and the University of San Francisco.
Peg is predeceased by her parents, her sister, Katherine Doherty, her brother, Thomas McCormack, and nephew, Michael McCormack. She is survived by her brother, John McCormack, of Kissimmee, Fla.
Cherished Aunt to Kathy, Peggy, John, Dan, Maureen, Tom, John, Chrissy, Tommy, Jimmy, and Brian.
Loving Great Aunt to John, Caitlyn, Brian, Katie, Evan, Emily, Maggie, Mary, Jack, Maddie, Ella, Nora, Jimmy, Michael, and August.
Rest easy Peg, Aunt Peg, Ahmee, Aunt Pegga, Great Aunt Peg. We will miss you so much.
A mass will be held at St. Ann’s of Nyack, NY on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Unbound, formerly the Christian Foundation for Children and Aging, a nonprofit sponsorship organization. Unbound was founded by lay Catholic workers acting on the Gospel call to serve the poor.
