Obituary for Robert L. Moore

Robert Moore-McGann, 82, a long-time resident of Piermont, New York, with his cherished view of the Hudson River, passed away peacefully in his sleep Monday night. He was born September 5, 1940, to Robert and Marguerite Moore of Port Chester, New York. He was a critical thinker who also accepted the mystical, in all its forms. He worked as an engineer at an executive level but was also a consummate history buff, voracious reader and most importantly, a loving husband, father and grandfather. Hidden talents emerged, such as beautiful drawings and gourmet cooking, during his long-time love affair and marriage to his beloved Carol McGann-Moore, who predeceased him in 2016. Robert was a dedicated member and deacon at Palisades Presbyterian Church where he had many wonderful friends. He was particularly proud of his contributions, home-made quiches and pastries, to the after service ‘coffee hours’. He played tennis competitively until the age of 80, tended his vegetables in the community garden and took great pride in keeping up the house. He also enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s many school plays and games. He is survived by his sisters, Grace Thorpe and Christine Drollinger (and her husband Bill), his spirit sister Carolyn Finck, his children Matthew Moore, Lisa Moore-Long (and her husband Mark), Heather Finck, Jessica Dooley (and her husband Chris) along with his seven cherished grandchildren: Will, Caileigh, Ben, Aidan, Andy, Jack and Ella. Calling hours at Hannemann Funeral Home in Nyack, NY on Friday, December 16th from 4pm to 7pm. A memorial service will be held at Palisades Presbyterian Church on Saturday, December 17th at 1pm. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Palisades Presbyterian Church.
