Condolence From: Sean Conway

Condolence: A lot of my memories of Uncle Fred are from the 70’s and 80’s – random and piecemeal kid memories. I remember his dark green VW wagon (“green because he’s Irish”) and how he stored my Uncle John’s old black motorcycle in his garage seemingly forever. I remember seeing him on quiet mornings whispering prayers in his room on Voorhis Avenue and getting dressed up for church.
As I got older – and this never changed – I always just thought of him as a kind and cool guy. I was proud he was my uncle just like I was proud of all the Fentons. He was quiet in a peaceful way and always respectiful to others. Without fail he had a brief warm brief greeting for people no matter who. We’d argue politics but he always seemed to listen and (maybe unlike me and my Grandma) never took things too far.
I’ll always remember him for making my childhood a bit charmed, like him. Maybe the luck of the Irish. I’m sorry to my Aunt Mary and my cousins Jeanne, Tim, and Chris and their families for this loss. But I wish them peace in knowing he lived a good life. My love and condolences to you all.
