Obituary for Claudette Durandisse

Claudette Marie-Alourde Durandisse was born on February 22, 1943, to Hermane Charles Durand and Lalite Meus in Ganthier, Departement de L'Ouest, Haiti. In April 1969 Claudette migrated to the United States where she laid roots in Nyack, New York. It was there she met the love of her life Picard Durandisse, whom she married on December 19, 1970, following only six months of courting.

In her early adulthood, she worked diligently to make a new life for herself in the United States. Claudette worked at Troll Associates packaging books for various school districts and served as a school bus driver for Chestnut Ridge Transportation. Claudette loved children and she loved playing a role to ensure their academic success. Claudette retired after 30 years of service.

Claudette fondly known as "BooBoo" and "Mommy Ti Det" was a dedicated wife, sister, mother, grandmother, godmother, aunt, and friend. She is survived by her husband Picard Jean; her older sister Marie Andre, her baby brother, Pierre Richard; three baby sisters Micheline, Emmable, and Vea; her children Patrick Charles, Marie-Carmel, Markee and Theresa; her three grandchildren; Seriah Alexus, Messiah Amari, and Mahlana Immanuel Claudette; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She leaves us to reunite in Heaven with her predeceased brother Joe, her mother, father, and other loved ones who departed before her.

Claudette was a woman who was dedicated to service and living the life of a true Christian. She was a member of Group de la louange de Nyack, a praise group that was encompassed of prayer warriors who embraced the power of the Holy Spirit to pray for others and the community. Claudette was selfless and honored GOD with her service and love to others.

Clearly, her genuine love for GOD was seen in countless aspects of her life, but those who truly knew her saw the playful, energetic, relentless prankster with an amazingly beautiful smile. Who can forget that joyful laughter, as the details of her stories or jokes unraveled, you couldn't help but join in the moment which would eventually erupt into another burst of exuberant laughter.

Mommy Ti Det loved music and dance, where most Tuesday evenings were spent watching "Dancing with Stars" followed by a continuous stream of CNN and conversation with her husband or visitors. When she wasn't bringing food to the recluse or ailing, she would be in her kitchen cooking and swiftly moving about, making sure her loved ones were fed and cared for. Mommy Ti Det was a giver, she was ready to share or give anything she possessed, you can barely leave her home without a bag or box of one thing or another. Her grace and humble nature shown in all she gave and received.

Our "Boo Boo" lived a blessed life until her passing on October 8, 2023, at the age of 80. She conquered many obstacles, loved unconditionally, and touched the lives of many. "Boo Boo" will be mostly remembered as a woman of GOD, and one who displayed sacrificial love for her husband, children, family and friends. We know that she has entered the gates of Heaven, and the Lord has welcomed her with embrace, saying "WELL DONE MY GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT"!
