Obituary for Franklin J. Caton

Franklin J. Caton
In Loving Memory of Franklin J. Caton (Frank)
It is with profound sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Franklin J. Caton, fondly known as Frank, who peacefully departed this world on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at the age of 89. He slipped away in his sleep at his home in Grand View-on-Hudson, NY, surrounded by the unwavering love of his devoted family.
Frank was a loving husband, a pillar of strength, a man of unwavering integrity, and a caring father whose impact reached far beyond his immediate circle. Born on January 30, 1934, in Brooklyn, NY, Frank's journey was one marked by love, wisdom, and a profound sense of purpose.
A devoted husband to Agatha, Frank was a cherished father to Barbara Caton-Bourdeau (Robert), Carol Anne Caton, Diane Caton, Eileen Wolff (Craig), Gregory Caton (Eileen), and a proud grandfather to Bryan Bourdeau (Maggie), Adrianna Caton, Brenden Bourdeau, Paris Brainerd and Cristen Wolff. He was also an endeared brother-in-law and close friend to Charles Seneca and Al Saverino. Additionally, he was a loving uncle to a multitude of nieces and nephews. His family brought him immeasurable joy, and he leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering support that will endure through generations.
Frank's wisdom, compassion, and infectious humor touched the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know him. His departure leaves a void that can only be filled with the countless memories of shared laughter, guidance, and love.
Preceding him in death are his mother and father, Mary and Eugene Caton, his brothers Eugene and Gerard, his sister Ruth and his twin sister Eleanor, as well as their spouses and his nephew James Walsh who are all remembered with deep respect and love.
Frank's interests and passions were as diverse as the life he lived. From traveling the world with Philip Morris International, to fishing trips to Lake George with his son Greg, to family trips to Tybee Island, GA. He was an active member of the Joyce Kilmer Knights of Columbus (Suffern, NY) and enjoyed their annual Delaware River camping trips, golf outings and Sunday morning softball games with fellow knights and their families. He was an avid NY Giants fan and loved tailgating anywhere. He enjoyed PBR happy hours with family and friends, listening to country music (especially Cash, Hank, Willie and Waylon), and keeping an eye on our neighborhood bald eagles. He approached every facet of his life with enthusiasm, precision to detail, great humor and sense of adventure that inspired those around him.
A celebration of Frank's life will be held on December 14, 2023 between 4:00 – 8:00 PM at Hannemann Funeral Home, 88 S. Broadway, Nyack, NY 10960. A funeral mass will be held to honor Franklin at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 16 Jefferson St., Nyack, NY 10960, on December 15, 2023 at 11:00 AM. Friends and family are invited to join together, sharing memories, finding solace, and celebrating the extraordinary life of a remarkable man.
Frank leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will endure in the hearts of those he touched. May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his memory be a source of comfort in the days ahead. As we mourn the loss of a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend we also celebrate a life well-lived, rich in love and compassion.
